JC, gardien de prison, est un homme sans histoire. Sa seule fantaisie consiste à suivre un cours de tango un soir par semaine. Un jour, il y rencontre une nouvelle venue, Alice. Le lendemain, il la retrouve avec surprise au parloir de la prison, elle rend visite à deux détenus : l’un est son mari, l’autre son amant…

Étrangement attiré par cette femme libre qui ne vit selon aucune règle, JC finit par transgresser tous les principes qui gouvernaient sa vie jusqu’alors…
