Sam, inspecteur de police, joue régulièrement aux échecs avec son ami Joseph Katz, vieux brocanteur rescapé des camps. Un matin, Katz abat de sang froid sous ses yeux un touriste allemand rentré par hasard dans sa boutique. Il a reconnu le Waffen SS responsable, il y a cinquante ans, du massacre de sa famille. Incapable de l'arrêter, Sam laisse son ami partir. Pour Sam et la fille de la victime, qui s'avèrera être un communiste et non pas un nazi, commence une enquête encore plus complexe qu'une partie d'échecs.

ReplyTom Hardy is the only thing that really gets me excited about this movie. I would watch him in a soap commercial. And his character in this movie reminds me of his character on the drop. Such a great combination of innocense and violence. Watch that movie and see what I mean. It's great."
