Une équipe, regroupant des chercheurs du monde entier, se rendent en Egypte afin de faire des fouilles autour des pyramides. Sur place, ils découvrent une cité perdue, ensevelie sous les pierres. Ils réveillent alors par mégarde des dieux anciens qui déclenchent alors un processus menant la monde à sa fin... Le groupe va mettre tout en oeuvre pour empêcher l'apocalypse.
