This could have worked. It was a LONG SHOT, but it could’ve worked. You can’t have Tom Holland in your movie? Fine; keep most of the Spider-Man 3 origin: the symbiote arrives on Earth in a meteor and bonds with a human host. Eddie Brock is a down on his luck reporter, recently fired from the Bugle for forging a picture of Spider-Man. Eddie finds the symbiote and tries to use it to get his career on track as a new Spider-Man (in a black costume) and stops a heist, hospitalizing the criminals. One escapes and tells their boss (I think Mysterio works here) who fights Eddie (in costume) and uses his illusions to drive Eddie crazy. The symbiote takes over and pulls an Alien on Mysterio (hiding in the room and taking him by surprise) and almost kills him before Eddie takes over. The rest of the movie is Mysterio figuring out who Eddie is and targeting his loved ones (aka Gwen Stacy) while Eddie and the Symbiote try to understand each other (with Eddie being scared of the symbiote’s viciousness and the symbiote trying to understand compassion and empathy).\n\nYeah, it’s not a perfect premise. Its a pseudo-remake of Spider-Man 3, isn’t true to the comics, and heavily alters more characters (like Mysterio). But it keeps Eddie close to his comic roots (a jerk who has the potential to be a good guy but lies and steals to get ahead) and is a story about whether or not violence and murder are justified against a dangerous person who threatens you and your loved ones (like a diet Maximum Carnage). At least it would understand the Eddie/Symbiote dynamic more..."

It's always good when a hero got such black/dark/killer power."
