L'histoire se déroule dans la Suède du début du XXème siècle. Le film dépeint la vie d'une jeune fille, Fanny, et de son frère Alexandre au sein d'une famille aisée, les Ekdahl. Les parents de Fanny et Alexandre travaillent dans le théâtre et sont très heureux ensemble jusqu'à la mort subite du père. Peu après ce drame, la mère trouve un prétendant, un évêque, et accepte sa proposition de mariage. Elle déménage chez lui avec les enfants.

ReplyGod I cannot stand Sony filmmaking anymore. They create such a fake super clean environment that feels completely ungrounded and unrealistic. And their camera work is always boringly slow cinematography. That’s why they have such a hard time releasing good films. They are still stuck in their early Spider-Man days that worked back then but does not work well today"
