Menottés, trois jeunes délinquants arrivent dans un centre de détention pour mineurs. Précédé d’une réputation de dur pour s’être attaqué à l’un des gardiens d’un autre établissement, Carlin bénéficie d’un traitement de « faveur ». Copieusement passé à tabac par l’un des surveillants, il l’est ensuite par Banks, le caïd de l’institution. N’étant cependant pas du genre à baisser longtemps la tête, il la redresse et s’impose par la violence. Dès lors, autour de lui, les faibles trinquent, exposés plus que les autres au désespoir et aux pires sévices…
