Enrôlés dans l'armée de force, Gérard, Phil, Jean et Jean-Guy sont guère ravis de leurs conditions de travail et rechignent à chaque tâche confiée. Suite à ce comportement, ils sont envoyés au cachot pour non respect de la discipline militaire, ce qui satisfait amplement ces quatre feignants. Cependant, ils sont vite rappelé à l'ordre pour une mission, expatrier les paysans de leur campagne au centre de la France mais encore une fois, les Charlots ne sont pas de cet avis.
