Expert financier à Zurich, Sébastien Grenier mène une vie tranquille aux côtés de sa femme, Anna Gretz. En sommeil depuis une dizaine d'années, il s'avère que celui-ci est un ancien espion, membre du SDECE, le service de renseignements français. Mais tout remonte à la surface lorsqu’il est contacté par un certain Jean-Paul Chance pour enquêter sur les attentats des "Brigades populaires". Se méfiant de lui, Grenier alerte son ami et confrère, Henri Marchand pour qu'il vérifie les antécédents de Chance. A la mort de Marchand, Sébastien comprend qu'il est manipulé par le KGB dont la volonté est d'éliminer tous les espions français. Piqué au vif, il décide de se venger.
