Dans le Grand Nord canadien, Aldo, baroudeur solitaire, travaille sans relâche dans une mine d'or, se mêlant peu à la vie du groupe venu comme lui chercher fortune dans ces lieux désolés. A plusieurs milliers de kilomètres de là, Gérard Jackson, qui se déplace en chaise roulante après un accident impliquant le pilote Aldo Sevenac, exploite un garage en compagnie de son épouse Eléonore. Un matin, le camp des chercheurs d'or est attaqué avec une rare violence par des pillards. Seuls Aldo et deux Indien en réchappent. Ils s'enfuient avec l'or. Ce film d'aventure au cadre grandiose flatte la fibre nostalgique des amateurs de cinéma français populaire.
