Susan vient de se marier. Elle décide de s'installer dans le manoir de son mari. A peine arrivée dans la demeure de son cher époux, Susan apprend par la domestique, l'existence d'une certaine Carmilla, l'ancêtre de la famille. Cette dernière, aurait jadis tué son mari pour de mystérieuses raisons d'ordre sexuel. Le soir, Susan fait souvent le même cauchemar. Elle croit y voir Carmilla en train de lui faire subir les pires tortures corporelles comme l'automutilation et autres actes de barbaries. Mais que se cache-t-il derrière cette sanglante histoire ?
