La soeur du notaire d'une petite ville de province que l'on vient de retrouver pendu est persuadee qu'il s'agit d'un crime et que le meurtrier est un nain de jardin. Son frere en faisait la collection. C'est ce moment que choisit Jerome pour s'installer dans cette ville a la recherche de son pere legitime qui les a abandonnes, lui et sa mere. Jerome est un nain. Il est tres vite confronte a la moquerie ou a la commiseration. C'est alors que d'autres crimes se produisent. La police est sur la piste d'une secte d'adorateurs de nains de jardin.
