En 1942, en pleine Deuxième Guerre mondiale, deux soldats suédois abandonnent leurs fonctions et partent vers la frontière avec la Norvège, région sous le contrôle des Nazis. Lorsque le lieutenant Aron Stenström découvre que son frère est un des évadés, il décide de partir à sa recherche. Les deux frères devront faire face au froid et aux ennemis pour arriver au bout de leur aventure.
