Le jeune forgeron Thor vit des jours heureux auprès de sa mère dans un paisible petit village. La légende dit qu'il est le fils d'Odin, le Roi des Dieux. Les villageois sont donc persuadés que les terrifiants géants ne les attaqueront jamais. Mais ils ont bien tort. Un jour, une armée de géants attaque le village et emmène les habitants devant Hel, la Reine des Enfers. Laissé derrière, Thor décide de partir sauver ses amis avec l'aide du "Marteau Broyeur", une arme magique.
