Adaptation moderne du célèbre roman de Charles Dickens transposée à notre époque, ayant pour cadre la Floride ou le Pip de Dickens est devenu Finn et son oncle forgeron un patron pêcheur. Comme dans le roman l'enfant va sauver un forcat évade, geste qui changera sa destinée. Quand la fortune viendra il pensera qu'il la doit à une vieille dame excentrique dont il égayait l'existence quand il était enfant.
