Kristen Scott est la seule femme pompier de la ville de Rawlings. Elle est aimée et respectée dans son travail jusqu'au jour où son père, qui est aussi son coéquipier, meurt lors d'une intervention dans un incident. Kristen est alors tenue responsable de sa mort et se retrouve sans travail et sans famille sur qui compter.
