Après s'être disputé avec sa mère, Milo sort de son lit pour s'excuser. Mais alors qu'il s'approche de sa chambre, il voit celle-ci se faire enlever par des extra-terrestres. Réussissant à entrer dans leur vaisseau spatial, le jeune garçon se retrouve sur la planète Mars. Quelque peu désemparé au départ, Milo fait bientôt la connaissance de Gribble, un enfant humain comme lui qui vit dans des zones désertées, et de Ki, une alien qui accepte de les aider. Ensemble, ils partent à la rescousse de la mère de Milo, et le temps presse...
