Alors qu'il est sur le point de mourir, Red Cloud, chef des Sioux Lakota, annonce à sa tribu qu'elle aura bientôt à sa tête un grand chef, qui mourra de la main d'un de ses guerriers. Quelques années plus tard, Crazy Horse et Black Shawl se marient, au grand dam du cousin Little Big Man, qui quitte la tribu pour devenir soldat. L'or que recèlent les terrains des Sioux attise bien des convoitises, et des massacres sont commis. Les indiens n'ont d'autre choix que de prendre le sentier de la guerre, guidés par Crazy Horse. Ce western pro-indien offre une biographie romancée de Crazy Horse avec quelques scènes d'action qui plairont aux plus jeunes.
