Interné dans un asile pour criminels, il est libéré vingt-cinq ans plus tard contre son gré. Il est engagé comme réparateur et devient l'ami de Frank Wheatley, la premiere personne à l'accepter. Frank convainc sa mère, Linda, de l'accepter chez eux.
